Preparing STX for Swift Release 2026
Each year, the Swift standards are updated to support new market needs, regulatory requirements, and evolving post-trade processes. Brokerway has now started the analysis of the upcoming Swift Release 2026, covering changes in both ISO 15022 MT messages and ISO 20022 MX/XML messages.
The 2026 release includes updates across corporate actions, settlement, general meetings, shareholder identification disclosure, investment funds, tax documentation, market claims, buyer protection, digital assets, DLT-related processing, and T+1 settlement support. Several of the identified changes are mandatory for the market and will require system adjustments to remain compliant.
Examples include mandatory changes in ISO 15022 corporate action messages such as updated period/date handling in MT564 and MT566, removal and replacement of certain qualifiers and codes, and changes affecting entitlement and option processing. The release also introduces new or enhanced support for buyer protection, market claims, tax documentation, digital asset settlement, e-money token identification, and T+1-related settlement indicators.
As part of the project, Brokerway will analyse the Swift documentation, assess the impact on STX, prepare functional specifications, implement required system changes, and perform internal testing and verification. The work will include updates to STX processing, validation, message handling, and relevant user interface areas.
Client testing is planned for October and November 2026, ahead of the production release. With this project, Brokerway will ensure that STX remains aligned with the latest Swift standards and ready to support clients in a changing post-trade landscape.
